Anna Hazare and Ramdev

18 July 2012. Anna Hazare and yoga guru Ramdev accused the government of not having enough resolve to pass the Lokpal Bill and bring back black money stashed away in foreign countries. Hazare and Ramdev said they will support each other in the fight against corruption. Team Anna is launching an indefinite protest from 25 July 2012 in Jantar Mantar while Ramdev’s protest starts from 9 August 2012 in Ramlila Maidan. Anna Hazare on Wednesday said Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid met him privately near Pune on 23 June 2012 and requested him not to go ahead with the proposed indefinite protest. Baba Ramdev today said the people would like to see Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi as a “permanent” Prime Minister if he meets the demands for bringing back black money stashed abroad and eradicating corruption. He said if the government failed to meet their demands, people would be asked to boycott the leaders of the ruling government. “We will tell people not to allow the ruling party members to enter any city. We will ask people not to attend their functions. No one will give them votes and this will happen. We have formed village and tehsil committees who will carry out this work and it will begin from August 9,” Ramdev said.
