MARGAO: Chief minister Manohar Parrikar held a meeting on 29 March 2012 with the South Goa MLAs and officials of various sections of the PWD to review works. PWD minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar was also present. Parrikar assured to provide $ 200,000 each to all constituencies to carry out urgent development works.
The chief minister was told of the water scarcity in various parts of South Goa. He called a meeting of the PWD officials in Panaji soon to find solutions to the issue.
Parrikar admitted to media persons that there were many irregularities in the PWD. Orders for many tendered works were not collected by contractors as they had to pay a bribe of 15%.
“You may find some heads rolling, but we don’t want to go after small fries. I want to have patience. I do not want to act in haste and repent in leisure,” he said. Parrikar said that there will be zero tolerance towards corruption.
