Silvio Berlusconi
MILAN. Berlusconi trial ended with the court ruling on Saturday (25 February 2012) that the statute of limitations has run out. Berlusconi was accused of bribing his British lawyer, David Mills, to lie in two 1990 trials to shield the politician and his Fininvest holding company from charges related to offshore companies Mills helped set up
The chief judge, Francesca Vitale, read out the verdict after 2 1/2 hours of deliberations. Berlusconi was not at the courtroom when the verdict was announced but his attorney said that he had conveyed the verdict to the politician over the phone.
