Former Lackawanna County Commissioner A.J. Munchak
Pennsylvania, 31 March 2012. A federal judge turned down, on Friday, the request of former Lackawanna County Commissioner A.J. Munchak to remain free on appeal. Sixty-five year old Munchak was convicted along with a fellow ex-commissioner Robert Cordaro, of bribery, extortion and other counts. Munchak was sentenced to seven years in prison in January and Cordaro to 11 years.
Munchak plans to surrender to prison officials on Tuesday. Cordaro, was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix, N.J, immediately following his sentencing.
