Former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair
Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman G Madhavan Nair has written to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) requesting for a fresh and comprehensive inquiry into the Antrix-Devas deal. He expressed his reservations over the Prathyush Sinha-led committee probe into the controversial spectrum allocation.
Nair said he wrote the letter sometime middle of last week to the PMO accusing the Department of Space (DoS) of having got the entire thing completely wrong when deciding the cancellation of the Antrix-Devas deal.
Nair said that the Prathyush Sinha committee did not follow proper procedure and this led the government to take action against him and others. Reasons cited for cancelling the contract are not accurate. The committee distorted facts, he alleged.
The PMO action had come in for flak from the scientific community, which included well-known scientist Prof C N R Rao and others.
Recently, another distinguished space scientist, Prof Roddam Narasimha, too expressed displeasure over the action initiated against Nair and quit as Space Commission Member. Previous post: India: Investigation into Antrix-Devas deal
