Tony Accurso
18 April 2012. Tony Accurso, a construction magnet in Quebec was arrested by the anti-corruption squad while thirteen others have been charged. Among those charged are the mayor of Mascouche, Richard Marcotte, 64, and the owner of Transport et Excavation Mascouche Inc., Normand Trudel, 58.
The charges framed include Accurso’s use of his luxury boat to gain influence with Mayor Marcotte. It was alleged that Marcotte’s municipal party also received funding in return for contracts. Radio-Canada reported in 2010 that Transport et Excavation Mascouche received $40 million in municipal contracts between 2000 and 2009.
