Andhra Pradesh (AP) government‘s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two serving judges on Thursday for their alleged role in the case of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, a mining baron accused in the illegal mining case. D Prabhakar Rao, a Family Court-cum-3rd Additional district and sessions judge of Srikakulam, and K Lakshminarasimha Rao, chief judge of the city small causes court, were arrested by the agency Prabhakar Rao was suspended by the AP High Court last week while Lakshminarasimha Rao was suspended on Wednesday following ACB’s initial investigations. Prabhakar Rao is the seventh person and the third serving judge to be charged on corruption charges. The High Court directed ACB to investigate after Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) exposed a Rs 10 crore (US$ 1.9 million) bribe for granting bail to Gali Janardhana Reddy, a corrupt minister son of a more corrupt former chief minister father. As they say, corruption runs in the family blood. Earlier, First Additional Special Judge for CBI cases T Pattabhirama Rao and retired judge T V Chalapathi Rao had been arrested for their alleged role in the case. The ACB has also arrested Ravichandra, son of T Pattabhirama Rao, Yadagiri Rao alias Yadagiri, and realtor Ravi Suryapprakash Babu.
