5 June 2012. The North Sumatra Prosecutor’s Office detained the head of the Deli Serdang Public Works Office, Faisal, on Friday in connection with the embezzlement of Rp 80 billion from the 2010 regency budget.
He was detained in the afternoon after undergoing questioning at the prosecutor’s office the same day. He was named a suspect on Wednesday for allegedly failing to realize a number of infrastructure projects in the regency.
“He has been detained to facilitate the investigation,” head of the information and legal section of the prosecutor’s office, Marcos Simare-mare, said at his office on Friday afternoon.
Faisal was still wearing his civil servant’s uniform when he was detained. He did not speak much about his detention, arguing that the legal process was still ongoing. “There are still court hearings to come,” he said.
