Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum and his wife, Athiyyah Laila
27 April 2012.Antigraft investigators questioned the wife of Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum on Thursday in connection to alleged bid-rigging in the construction of a $166 million sports centre in which her husband has been implicated.
Athiyyah Laila, Anas’s wife, was a commissioner of Dutasari Citralaras, a subcontractor for state construction company Adhi Karya that won the contract to build the Hambalang sports centre in Bogor.
Anas has been repeatedly accused by the former Democratic treasurer, Muhammad Nazaruddin, of taking a $ 11 million kickback to ensure that Adhi Karya won the contract.
