Arrested at OR Tambo airport

On Friday, six police sergeants, four constables and two warrant officers were arrested. Police also recovered R1 million from one of the suspects. Police official spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said. She said there are still five officers outstanding, one is in quarantine and three officers are expected to hand themselves over to police and one is at large.
It is alleged that the officers were stealing the drugs confiscated from drug mules.
Their arrest follows a three-year investigation by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation and Crime Intelligence on allegations of corruption offences at the OR Tambo International Airport.

Mogale said a further 11 Tshwane Metro Police officers, aged between 32 and 49, were also arrested in the early morning raid by the same team. She alleged that that the officials demanded and received gratifications from motorists to allow unroadworthy vehicles to operate on the road.
