Peter Lim Sin Pang
22 September 2012. Former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) chief Peter Lim Sin Pang’s trial commences with one charge of obtaining sexual favours from Ms Pang Chor Mui in exchange for giving preference to the tender offered by her company. Other nine chargers will be stood down for now. It was revealed that Ms Pang will be one of the 11 witnesses to be produced by the prosecution. Some SCDF officers also will be called as witnesses. Lawyers said that it is not uncommon to start with an unconnected and distinct charge first as it ensures a fair trial without overwhelming the accused with several unconnected charges. It would also prevent the court from being influenced by unrelated evidence against the accused on different charges. The defence lawyers said that they have not yet decided on their list of witnesses. The case will be mentioned again on 2 November 2012. The eight day trial is expected to be in January 2013.
