Mayawati’s bungalow
10 May 2012. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati spent about $16.6 million from the state government funds to get her 13, Mall Avenue bungalow renovated when she was chief minister in the last five years. The bungalow was first allotted to her in 1995 in her capacity as a former CM of the state.
PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav obtained the information through an Right To Information (RTI) application. Yadav had sought this information in his capacity as the Leader of Opposition before the 2012 Assembly elections, but he received the information only now.
The bullet-proof glass window fitted in her bungalow cost around $29,000. The bungalow has pink marble, statues of both BSP founder Kanshiram and Mayawati, and five statues of elephants, BSP’s symbol. The campus has also a two-storey guesthouse and 14 air-conditioned rooms.
