Silvio Berlusconi

Italian prosecutor Fabio De Pasquale on Wednesday (15 February 2012) urged the court to find the former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi guilty of having paid a British lawyer $600,000 to lie in other cases involving false accounting and tax evasion. He demanded a five-year prison sentence for Berlusconi. Italian statute of limitations would Come into force by mid-July and therefore he is urging for a decision before that date.

Berlusconi stepped down in November last year ( 2011) and there are several other cases pending against him, including a case which involves sex with an underage prostitute. Read previous post: Berlusconi case load may lighten.
