Ghana MP Paul Collins Appiah Ofori has described as “shameful” the dismissal of Attorney General (AG) Martin Amidu for no justifiable reason. He pointed out that the sacking of the AG was to protect the President’s cronies and to condone their corruption against the state.

Martin Amidu claimed that his integrity and professionalism as a lawyer was a threat to the concealment of “gargantuan crimes” against the people of Ghana.

The President’s Office released a statement that Martin Amidu was being relieved his posts as Attorney General and Minister of Justice with immediate effect because of his misconduct at a meeting last Friday, January 13 2012, presided over by President J.E.A Mills. The statement added that Mr. Amidu’s conduct was incompatible with acceptable standards expected of ministers and appointees of the President.
