Tok Kian You
8 August 2012. he former executive chairman of AEM-Evertech Holdings Limited, Tok Kian You, 51, admitted to giving bribes of S$106,484.29 to Siow Sing Heng, a manager in STS Shenzhen, in 2004. The money was a reward to Siow to channel more business to AEM-Evertech. Tok’s lawyer, Mr Edmond Pereira, in mitigation said that the quality of the equipment provided by AEM-Evertech was not compromised. Prosecution argued that greater harm could be generated by the act and a culture of corruption may be established if such doings are not checked. AEM-Evertech, co-founded by Tok and Ang Seng Thor, is in the machinery and equipment industry. Tok is alleged, together with Ang, then chief executive officer, to give a $50,000 bribe to Mr Tan Gek Chuan in Malacca in return for awarding the purchase of four inspection machines to AEM-Evertech. Mr Tan was operations director of Infineon Technologies Malacca at the time of the alleged offence on 24 January 2004.
