22 June 2012. Sainsbury’s was overcharged by nearly £9m by potato supplier Greenvale. Two of Greenvale’s employees bribed the purchasing manager at Sainsbury’ to overcharge. All three have been jailed.
Andrew Behagg, a former director of Greenvale was sentenced to 3 years in jail for authorising payments to Maylam. David Baxter, another former director was sentenced to 30 months in jail while John Maylam, the potato buyer at Sainsbury, admitted corruption and was sent to prison for four years.
