11 May 2012. A former Mimos Berhad claimed trial in a Sessions court here Friday for four counts of bribery charges amounting to half a million ringgit. Mimos Berhad was set up to pioneer information and communication technologies (ICT), by research and development, to grow globally competitive indigenous industries.

Khairul Khalid, 52, is alleged to have obtained bribes from Muhammad Khalid Ismail, 64, as an inducement to invest RM5.5mil from Mimos Bhd’s investment fund in Eight Asset Management Sdn Bhd.

The bribes, amounting to RM502,002, were alleged to have been received by Khairul between 23 May 2001 and 8 Feb 2002.

He was released on bail of RM10,000 for each charge with one surety. Khairul was also ordered to report to a police station once a month.

Judge K.M. Nithiyanantham fixed June 7 for mention.
