Cartoonist Aseem Trivedi, who was detained in Mumbai jail for drawings that satirize corruption in Indian politics was released on bail on Wednesday, He was cheered by hundreds of free speech activist as he left Mumbai’s main jail. He instantly became a celebrity among free speech activist and anti-corruption fighters who say that the corruption ridden government has become increasingly intolerant of criticism. Trivedi originally refused to post bail but finally accepted the bail of Rs 5,000 ($ 90) and walked out of the jail.
