Pennsylvania’s state lawmaker, H. William DeWeese was convicted of five felony counts of theft, conspiracy and conflict of interest. Dauphin County jury acquitted him of a single theft charge. DeWeese said that he would appeal against the verdict.
DeWeese’s sentencing by President Judge Todd A. Hoover is reserved for 24 April 2012. State Senior Deputy Attorney General Ken Brown said that after sentencing, DeWeese would not be able to serve in the House because convicted felons are barred from sitting in the Legislature.
